Life always seems to come in pieces, and as humans we try to fit them in somewhere, usually with much trial and error. It's a large puzzle that will take a lifetime to complete, and in the end the picture might not be what you would expect. Unless you know who made the puzzle...
As many of you probably saw over the weekend, my "relationship status" has changed. I've started courting a beautiful young woman name Kaytlin, and to be honest this is a piece of my life puzzle I wasn't expecting just yet. There are other pieces I thought would be put in their place by now, and their not. Things like my job, and a long term calling to a certain ministry, that I thought would be placed in the right spots before another relationship came up. Destiny, timing, control; these were things I had to let go of. I decided to let God choose the pieces and when to place them.
Now I've talked about puzzle pieces before. Everyone's life is a giant puzzle that's trying to make a picture of something when it's completed. And just like when we build normal puzzles, you find pieces that you think you might be able to place and see if you can find where they go. Sometimes they fit, sometimes you force them to fit, and sometimes you need to place other pieces first before you can place the one in your hand. Sometimes it even feels like the pieces are all blank!
Regardless of what pieces you place, the picture you're making out of your life puzzle is ultimately the same as mine. It's a picture of the glory of God. Whether the piece looks good or bad, God will use it to show His glory. And sometimes that means placing a piece that doesn't make sense but totally fits.
Whatever you're placing, make sure God's the one picking the pieces, and make sure you ask Him where they are supposed to go. It's hard to let go, but there's freedom, joy, and things you might never have found otherwise when you leave control in God's hands.
Godspeed,
- Jason
