It's In Your Jeans

Jeans. The American working man's goto wear for almost any outdoor work situation. And part of today's topic as we look at walking with Christ...

I've done enough projects around my house, outdoor activities with kids, and various other things to know that when you need tough pants for a tough job, you pick jeans. The denim they're made out of holds up well against dirt, wear, and other rough elements, making them ideal for outdoor work, construction work, or any rough environment. But how do jeans apply to walking with Christ? Well...

As you've probably already experienced, life can get a little rough & tough sometimes. Maybe you have some issues with a friend, something goes wrong at work, a family member dies, or you have to make a difficult life decision. Whatever it is, it's bound to be tough to go through. And when you have something tough to do, you put on your tough clothes: your jeans.

Jesus said that those who follow Him will experience tough times, because the world in its sin doesn't like the light of God that's present in our lives. So for those who believe, tough living becomes a familiar thing. We put our jeans on and walk through the tough times. But we don't do it alone: God is there with us to help us through it.

Here's the thing though... It's in your jeans! What is? You! Your legs! You're the one wearing the jeans, and you're the one who has to walk in them. God won't make you walk, that's up to you. But He does promise that if you walk and follow Him, He will take care of you.

So if you see things getting tough in your life, put on your jeans! Pray, read the Bible, walk with and follow Christ, and trust that He will take care of you!

Godspeed!
